Global Scaling Strategy For a New Breed of Hotel.
Selina Hotels is a cutting edge hospitality group currently amidst an aggressive global expansion.
Blending traditional hospitality with the new, Selina targets millennials and digital nomads as their core target markets. A generation who insist on an innovative fusion of work, play and stay, created a market gap which Selina have capitalised upon.
Selina Hotels had a disruptive hotel concept, yet needed to significantly raise the standard of their existing offering of ancillary amenities (Food & Beverage, Wellness, Coworking and Retail) to a world-class level to exceed the discerning expectations of their target demographics. The customer experience needed to be unique, spectacular and consistent - whether in Manhattan or Machu Picchu.
To achieve this, Selina approached Compound to advise on concept, development, strategy, commerciality, product, infrastructure, operations and beyond.
All front-of-house products, services and experiences needed to be ideated, developed and implemented across the estate, and then operated by scalable back-of-house infrastructure and processes, which also needed to be architected. Our original involvement quickly bled into the wider organisation, where we became entrenched in all aspects of the business.
This was a truly immense project, that resulted in huge success, both for The Compound Group and Selina Hotels. Compound oversaw and contributed to the development of over 100 hotels and 400 Restaurants & Bars, and hundreds of other ancillary revenue generating outlets in over 20 countries, thus facilitating the quadrupling of Selina’s business valuation ($850mm), in 18 months.
